MY CATHEDRAL

I know of a Cathedral

That’s way up in the hills,

It’s a place so very special

And a heavenly peace instils.

For the hills rise steep to form its walls

Its roof is the moon and the sun,

Its doors are ever open

To welcome everyone.

There are trees that form its pillars

There are birds that form the choir,

The flowers and leaves the carpets

What more could one desire.

The congregation varies

But some always come along,

For many of God’s creatures

Are there at Evensong.

It seems the sheep and cattle

Want to come and share,

With Heaven and Earth united

In simple humble prayer.

I’ve heard many sermons

In my Cathedral fair,

With God himself the preacher

A joy beyond compare.

Yes! There’s a special atmosphere

Which God with His presence fills,

And no place on Earth is dearer

Than my Cathedral in the Hills.
